In 1985 when the VME Group was established, the former brand of Clark Michigan was layed to rest and some of the products were renamed and was marketed under the Michigan brand. The smaller loaders in the previous company product line were phased out to pave way for the smaller Volvo BM loaders. However, production in Brazil of the smaller Michigan loaders was continued and sold on the local market for a period of time. For a while Volvo BM loaders were marketed under the Michigan brand in North America.
