Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America<\/a>, a subsidiary of Tokyo-based MHI, has expanded the duties of its Houston headquarters to handle new business opportunities for oil and gas-related machinery.<\/p>\n

The company has established a dedicated office in Houston, which will focus on linking the company’s products such as compressors and gas turbines with companies involved in drilling, refining and liquefied natural gas, according to a company statement.<\/p>\n

\u00a0“Many of MHI’s leading technologies trace their origins back to the U.S.,” MHI President and CEO Shunichi Miyanaga said in a statement. “We are pleased to be able to offer the technologies we have honed in Japan to customers in the U.S. from a local base.”<\/div>\n

Company officials said that as they expect “robust development” to continue in the U.S. energy industry, there are business opportunities in certain growing segments including floating production, modular plants, enhanced oil recovery, gas processing and LNG.<\/p>\n

MHI has made large investments in Houston, including moving its American subsidiary’s corporate headquarters to Houston this past May, investing in its Pearland manufacturing plant and announced earlier this month that the company will build a 71,000-square-foot Caterpillar Forklift plant in Conro<\/p>\n
