Bucket wheel excavators.<\/p>\n<p>The most famous of which being the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bagger_288\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bagger 288<\/a>, bucket wheel excavators make shorter work of mines than typical drill and blast mining. It cost $100 million to build in 1978, with inflation it would cost $380 million to build in 2017.
