{"id":9796,"date":"2017-01-18T00:15:26","date_gmt":"2017-01-18T00:15:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/minutes.machine.market\/?p=9796"},"modified":"2017-01-18T00:15:26","modified_gmt":"2017-01-18T00:15:26","slug":"steel-worker-killed-working-with-overhead-crane-in-wisconsin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/machine.market\/blog\/steel-worker-killed-working-with-overhead-crane-in-wisconsin\/","title":{"rendered":"Steel worker killed while unhooking girder from overhead crane in Wisconsin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WAUSAU (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.waow.com\/story\/34270093\/coroner-worker-killed-sunday-at-veritas-steel-in-wausau\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WAOW<\/a>) &#8211; A 38-year-old worker killed at a steel factory was unhooking a girder from an overhead crane when the girder fell and toppled, striking him, a spokesman for the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration said Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The accident happened about 4 p.m. Sunday at Veritas Steel as the man worked in the paint department at the factory, said Scott Allen, an OSHA spokesman in Chicago.<\/p>\n<p>OSHA opened an investigation and expects to take about six months to determine exactly what happened and why, Allen said.<\/p>\n<p>The worker&#8217;s name was not released Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Veritas CEO Henrik Jensen said Monday the worker was killed in a &#8220;tragic accident&#8221; but he did not elaborate.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We will provide more information once the review by authorities and our internal review are completed,&#8221; he said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9797 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cranemarket.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Veritas-Steel.png\" alt=\"Veritas Steel\" width=\"300\" height=\"38\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WAUSAU (WAOW) &#8211; A 38-year-old worker killed at a steel factory was unhooking a girder from an overhead crane when the girder fell and toppled, striking him, a spokesman for the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration said Tuesday.
