Despite bitter cold, 32′ precast concrete panels are being set into place in Fort Dodge, Iowa. \u00a0Wearing heavy clothes against the 6-degree weather, workers from Wells Concrete<\/a>, of Wells, Minnesota are renting a 165-ton\u00a0Grove GMK5165-2<\/a>\u00a0All Terrain from\u00a0Dave\u2019s Crane and Wrecker Service<\/a>, of Union to set the precast panels.<\/p>\n

Work has been going along smoothly.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur end will be done by tomorrow,\u201d<\/span> said Derek Distad, one of the Wells foremen, on Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe feel pretty comfortable we\u2019re going to be able to meet the deadline,\u201d<\/span> said Travis Filloon, Fort Dodge Community School District director of buildings and grounds. \u201cThings are moving as well as they can, with the temperatures we\u2019ve been experiencing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Work has been ongoing, but with the panels up everyone can now see what\u2019s being done.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve been doing a bunch of footing work, but the precast panels arrival moves things forward in a much more obvious manner,\u201d<\/span> Filloon said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf they can get the walls up, then they can put the steel girders in for the roof supports and then put the roof on, enclose the area and start doing some of the work that needs to be done inside,\u201d<\/span> he added. \u201cIt\u2019s always a challenge this time of year to get something enclosed and out of the weather.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Kolacia Construction, Inc. of Fort Dodge, is the general contractor on the project.<\/p>\n
