{"id":8599,"date":"2016-11-16T14:11:53","date_gmt":"2016-11-16T14:11:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/minutes.machine.market\/?p=8599"},"modified":"2016-11-16T14:11:53","modified_gmt":"2016-11-16T14:11:53","slug":"all-crane-sets-1st-steel-beam-for-16-9-m-bridge-project-in-ny","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/machine.market\/blog\/all-crane-sets-1st-steel-beam-for-16-9-m-bridge-project-in-ny\/","title":{"rendered":"All Crane sets 1st steel beam for $16.9 M bridge project in NY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>SPRINGVILLE, NY<\/strong> \u2014 Steel beams started rising into place for the new $16.9 million bridge that will replace the Old Route 219 Bridge over Cattaraugus Creek in western New York.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.manitowoccranes.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Manitowoc<\/a> cranes are working at the bottom of the 200-foot deep Zoar Valley Gorge and on the north abutment, raised the specially engineered beams, each weighing more than 50 tons.<\/p>\n<p>The 20-person bridge crew from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.contoursteel.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Contour Steel Inc.<\/a> was precise, from the positioning of clamps for lifting the steel beams to connecting beams together to finally seating and securing them on the abutment and 180-foot-tall concrete pier.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.salamancapress.com\/news\/first-steel-beams-raised-on-old-route-replacement-bridge\/article_d0873174-abfa-11e6-a52c-e7d53d32f601.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Salamanca Press<\/a> reports, Contour Steel Inc. was hired to do the rigging with the lattice boom cranes leased from Cleveland-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.allcrane.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">All Crane<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/specs.machine.market\/index.php\/2016\/11\/16\/manitowoc-888-ringer-lattice-boom-crane\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Manitowoc 888 Ringer<\/a>\u00a0is sitting on the Cattaraugus County side of the gorge, has more than 1 million pounds of counterweight and is one of six on the world. \u00a0Another, a 440t (ust) <a href=\"http:\/\/specs.machine.market\/index.php\/2016\/11\/16\/manitowoc-16000-crawler-crane\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Manitowoc 16000<\/a> working from the bottom of the gorge.<\/p>\n<p>Patton expects his crew will complete the placement and securing of steel beams by the end of November. The bridge, being constructed by contractor Cold Spring Construction Co., is due to be completed by June.<\/p>\n<p>Once finished, it becomes the joint responsibility of Cattaraugus and Erie counties.
