In addition, <a href=\"http:\/\/terminalspb.ru\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Container Terminal St. Petersburg<\/a> got two machines of the same type. All three machines are equipped with electric prime movers.<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0At the end of August, a new Liebherr mobile harbor crane, type <a href=\"http:\/\/specs.machine.market\/index.php\/2016\/11\/12\/liebherr-lhm-550-harbour-crane\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LHM 550,<\/a> the latest investment by Port of Helsingborg arrived at the V\u00e4sthamnen. The crane was shipped fully assembled by barge from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liebherr.com\/en\/deu\/about-liebherr\/liebherr-worldwide\/germany\/rostock\/mcctec-rostock.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Liebherr facility in the Port of Rostock<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<div>\u201cThe crane was ready for operation immediately after rolling off from the barge onto our new quay. Together with the new pier, this state-of-the-art mobile harbor crane provides the basis for further expansion of the container business in the Port of Helsingborg. We increased the container handling capacity by 50 percent,\u201d said Niels Vall\u00f8, CEO Port of Helsingborg.<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The crane is equipped with a twin lift container spreader that can handle two 20-foot containers at the same time. Apart from container handling the crane can be adapted for project cargo and different special lift applications.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThe most decisive factor to opt for a <a href=\"http:\/\/specs.machine.market\/index.php\/2016\/11\/12\/liebherr-lhm-550-harbour-crane\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LHM 550<\/a> is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.liebherr.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Liebherr<\/a>\u2019s arrangement of the drive system. The new crane is capable of running either on electricity or diesel, a feature which we highly value. The diesel engine gives us the freedom to move and position the crane at any pier we want. Once in place, we connect the crane to the main power supply, switch on the e-drive and operate the crane with eco-friendly energy,\u201d Vall\u00f8 said.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Almost simultaneously Container Terminal St. Petersburg has taken in two new Liebherr mobile harbor cranes, type <a href=\"http:\/\/specs.machine.market\/index.php\/2016\/11\/12\/liebherr-lhm-550-harbour-crane\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LHM 550<\/a>, also shipped from the Liebherr factory in Rostock.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cBoth cranes are equipped with a low voltage electric main drive. Plug in and turn the e-drive on. As long you have electricity the crane will work, but also in case you don\u2019t have power there is still the diesel engine ensuring your operation never stops,\u201d said Maxim Kim, Area Manager of Liebherr Maritime Cranes.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Scope of supply included two spreaders as the main task in the port is container handling. To ease the handling of big vessels the crane is equipped with a 4.8 meters tower extension. Thus, the elevated tower cabin provides the driver with an unrestricted view over the vessel.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>According to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.maritimeprofessional.com\/news\/cranes-helsingborg-petersburg-ports-298084\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Maritime Logistics Professional<\/a>, both <a href=\"http:\/\/specs.machine.market\/index.php\/2016\/11\/12\/liebherr-lhm-550-harbour-crane\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LHM 550<\/a> come in a four-rope configuration, which means true multi-functionality. With a quick change of the lifting attachment the spreader can be replaced by a mechanical grab. \u201cWithin minutes the Liebherr mobile harbor cranes turn into bulk handling machines. In that particular case, the cranes are used for the handling of aluminiumoxid,\u201d Kim said.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The terminal also benefits from the existing service-setup in St. Petersburg.
