Bhd<\/a>. (Sabah Ports) to supply two <a href=\"http:\/\/www.terex.com\/port-solutions\/en\/products\/ship-to-shore-cranes\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Terex\u00ae ship-to-shore cranes<\/a> (STS) to its Sapangar Bay Container Port (SBCP). The cranes will be manufactured at the TPS site in Xiamen, PR China, and are due to be put into operation in the second half of 2017.<\/p>\n<p><strong>STS will help SBCP increase handling rates<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SBCP, situated on the north coast of the island of Borneo, is the premier transshipment hub for the Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area. Strategically located along the busy shipping routes between the Far East and Europe, the port is faced with the challenge of constantly increasing handling rates. The STS cranes will help SBCP to enhance significantly the productivity of its operations. These cranes offer SBCP a lifting capacity of 41\u00a0t under twin-lift spreader, an outreach of 45\u00a0m and are designed to load and unload container vessels with up to 15\u00a0rows.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New machines are part of a series of orders<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The two STS cranes for SBCP are part of a series of orders that Sabah Ports recently placed with TPS. In June 2016, one Terex\u00ae\u00a0Gottwald Model\u00a02 mobile harbour crane as well as two Terex\u00ae reach stackers, one for Sabah Port\u2019s terminal in the Port of Sandakan and the other for the Port of Tawau, were put into operation. These machines supplemented the three mobile harbour cranes already purchased by Sabah Ports, one for Sandakan in 2005 and two for Tawau in 2005 respectively in\u00a02008. Additionally, four Terex rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTG) were ordered for SBCP.
