Caterpillar is adding the new AD22 Underground Truck to its hard rock mining product line. The 22.0-tonne-payload (24.2-ton-payload) articulated dump truck is the smallest in the Cat\u00ae<\/sup> product line, yet it is designed to deliver the productive performance and durability of its proven, larger counterparts. Its small operating envelope and agile characteristics enhance productivity in any mining application suited for this size class.<\/p>\n

The AD22 makes best use of proven Cat components, such as the C11 ACERT\u2122 diesel engine. The durable engine delivers gross power of 242 kW (325 hp) to achieve superior speed on grade. The new truck shares major components with a number of Cat machines to help ensure good parts availability and reduce inventory costs.<\/p>\n

The wide body design makes loading faster and easier. Multiple dump body sizes are available to optimize the truck for all mining applications suited to this size class.<\/p>\n

The AD22 also takes advantage of Caterpillar ergonomic designs to create controls and instrumentation that help operators perform efficiently. An easy-to-read full color LCD screen displays machine status.<\/p>\n

The new truck is available with an open operator compartment or an optional enclosed cab. Both are ROPS\/FOPS certified. The sweeping deck design provides good sight lines around the front of the truck, and the LCD screen shows the rearview camera view when backing.<\/p>\n

Announced at MINExpo 2016, the AD22 will be commercially available in mid-2017, following rigorous field testing. Additional details and specifications will be available at that time.
