He said he has operated cranes for 30 years. Despite some rain, he said the weather allowed for an easy move.<\/p>\n<p class=\"BodyText-BodyText\">\u201cAs long as it didn\u2019t get too windy we were in good shape.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"deep\">\n<div class=\"advert\">\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8041\" src=\"https:\/\/cranemarket.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Demag-AC-435-All-Terrain-Crane.jpg\" alt=\"Demag AC 435-All-Terrain-Crane\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" srcset=\"https:\/\/machine.market\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Demag-AC-435-All-Terrain-Crane.jpg 1280w, https:\/\/machine.market\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Demag-AC-435-All-Terrain-Crane-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/machine.market\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Demag-AC-435-All-Terrain-Crane-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/machine.market\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Demag-AC-435-All-Terrain-Crane-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/machine.market\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Demag-AC-435-All-Terrain-Crane-1080x608.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px\" \/><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Eugene-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wildish.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wildish<\/a> is the main contractor for the west Eugene EmX project and hired Oldham Crane Service, another Eugene company, to hoist the bridges into place.\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/registerguard.com\/rg\/news\/local\/34930635-75\/new-bridge-to-connect-pedestrians-cyclists-to-west-eugene-emx-route.html.csp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Watch Video Here<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"BodyText-BodyText\">Builders will finish the bridge next spring, along with a similar span over Amazon Creek at Wallis Street less than a mile west.<\/p>\n<p class=\"BodyText-BodyText\">\u201cThis (bridge) is \u00adgoing to be a great benefit for people who walk, bike, skateboard or want to take LTD bus service\u2009&#8230;\u2009,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"BodyText-BodyText\">Construction crews last week installed the Wallis Street bridge, using the same crane. City of \u00adEugene officials also plan to install a third nearby \u00adbicyclist-and-pedestrian bridge as part of the project.<\/p>\n<p class=\"BodyText-BodyText\">\u201cWe expect that the bridges are going to be a vital connection for those neighborhoods just south of West 11th Avenue,\u201d McGlone said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"BodyText-BodyText\">A $2.9 million state grant covers the cost of the bridges, McGlone said. In all, the west Eugene EmX project will cost more than $100 million, including the bridges.<\/p>\n<p class=\"BodyText-BodyText\">Workers began construction three years ago of the 4\u00bd-mile bus route between downtown and the Randy Pap\u00e9 Beltline, where the road meets West 11th. The rapid bus service is scheduled to start next September.<\/p>\n<p class=\"BodyText-BodyText\">Each of the LTD bicyclist\u00ad-and-pedestrian bridges weighs more than 42,000 pounds, or about 21 tons, said Lisa Van\u00adWinkle, LTD spokeswoman.<\/p>\n<p class=\"BodyText-BodyText\">The steel bridges are the same size \u2014 14 feet wide \u2014 and have the same two-arch design, with gray paint. Built by a company in Minnesota, the bridges are hauled by truck to \u00adEugene in two pieces each, VanWinkle said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"BodyText-BodyText\">The optimal time to work near Amazon Creek is now, McGlone said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"BodyText-BodyText\">\u201cThey don\u2019t want to dig up right next to the creek during the rainy season,\u201d he said. \u00adConstruction work would stir up dirt, which rainwater would carry into the creek and degrade sensitive streamside habitat.<\/p>\n<p class=\"BodyText-BodyText\">The new bridge crosses Amazon between two previously unconnected sections of Buck Street.
