The legs were fabricated in Italy by manufacturer Walter Tosto and arrived safely at South Brooklyn Marine Terminal on Monday. The New York Wheel, an initiative of the New York Wheel Company, is being constructed near the northern tip of Staten Island, about 35 meters from the shores of New York Harbor. Once construction has been completed, it will be the world\u2019s tallest observation wheel at 192 m (629 ft.)<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h2>ARRIVAL OF THE FIRST NEW YORK WHEEL COMPONENTS MARKS ANOTHER IMPORTANT MILESTONE IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE LARGEST OBSERVATION WHEEL IN THE WORLD<\/h2>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Milestone<\/strong><b><br \/>\n<\/b>The arrival of the legs &#8211; a milestone in the construction project &#8211; was marked with a celebration. They are the first New York wheel components to arrive that will be installed above ground. They are 5.4 meters (18-feet) wide and will be 83 meters (275 feet) tall when erected. Each leg is made up of two parts, of 42 and 41 meters respectively. Mammoet USA will engineer the multiple erection procedures, procure all the necessary parts from all over the world and construct the entire wheel. The legs will be installed using Mammoet cranes and Mammoet Self Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs). Mammoet have formed a joint venture with Starneth LLC, a Dutch engineering company specialized in the design and construction of giant observation wheels and structures.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mammoet<br \/>\n<\/b>Mammoet is the world\u2019s largest service provider specializing in engineered heavy lifting and transport. The New York Wheel will be yet another example of Mammoet\u2019s work on iconic city structures across the globe.
