OSHA says there were clear problems with the work site.<\/p>\n<div class=\"cmArticle cmOembedContainer\">\n<p>According to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wokv.com\/news\/news\/local\/osha-says-protocol-violated-riverside-site-where-w\/nsYqL\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WOKV<\/a>, Investigators were called to McCoy Creek Blvd where a Washington Painting employee was painting a building using a Sun-Belt Rentals Genie aerial lift. Jacksonville OSHA Office Area Director Brian Sturtecky says the worker got too close to a power line, and was shocked through his head as he contacted the power lines.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/cdnapi.kaltura.com\/p\/2028331\/sp\/202833100\/embedIframeJs\/uiconf_id\/36199231\/partner_id\/2028331?iframeembed=true&amp;playerId=media-preview_0_0_v4lmaa5u&amp;entry_id=0_v4lmaa5u&amp;flashvars[streamerType]=auto\" width=\"640\" height=\"395\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe broke the \u2018Golden Rule\u2019. You automatically stay ten feet away from power lines unless you contact the owner of the power lines and make other arrangements to make it safe,\u201d Sturtecky says.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_6856\" style=\"width: 421px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6856\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-6856 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/cranemarket.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/genie-aerial-lift-shock.jpg\" alt=\"genie-aerial-lift-shock\" width=\"411\" height=\"441\" srcset=\"https:\/\/machine.market\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/genie-aerial-lift-shock.jpg 411w, https:\/\/machine.market\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/genie-aerial-lift-shock-280x300.jpg 280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 411px) 100vw, 411px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-6856\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sun-Belt Rentals Genie 4&#215;4 Aerial Lift<\/p><\/div>\n<p>He says not only is that an OSHA standard, but warnings are printed on the side of the aerial lift itself and it\u2019s a well-known safety protocol.\u00a0 While Sturtecky says their investigation is just beginning, he \u201c100%\u201d believes there were problems on the site.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny time you have a piece of equipment or an employee\u2019s body that gets within ten feet of a power line, you are in violation of OSHA standards,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>According to Sturtecky, there have already been 26 work site fatalities in the District this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo one should have to lose their life for a job, and something like this is so preventable.<\/p>\n<p>OSHA hasn\u2019t spoken with Washington Painting at this time, nor have they gotten in touch with the other three to four workers they believe were on the site.
