State-owned miner Sold Energy will put its heavy machinery from its Stockton mine\u00a0on the block for an expected $6 million.<\/p>\n

The sales includes\u00a0\u00a021\u00a0trucks, excavators and bulldozers\u00a0from the \u00a0mine.<\/p>\n

Australian-based Hassalls\u00a0specialises\u00a0valuing\u00a0and selling mining industry assets.<\/p>\n

General manager Steve Wall said it\u00a0values Solid’s Stockton\u00a0fleet at $6 million. The most expensive truck was worth nearly $3m new and one of the biggest units, a dump truck,\u00a0could carry 100\u00a0tonnes.<\/p>\n

The fleet included a rare 2010 Cat 834H Wheel Dozer, Cat Excavators, Cat Artic Trucks,\u00a0Haulmax\u00a0Off Highway Haul Trucks and several Cat dump trucks.<\/p>\n

Although the sale was big by New Zealand standards, the dump truck and other vehicles was\u00a0small on a world-scale.<\/p>\n

Hassalls recently sold equipment in Queensland worth tens of millions, he said.<\/p>\n

Solid’s vehicles, built in 2010,\u00a0would start moving to Christchurch\u00a0 for sale about a fortnight.<\/p>\n

Half of the vehicles were too big to\u00a0pass under an overhang in the Buller Gorge so some machines would be\u00a0stripped down to their chassis or\u00a0have tyres removed.<\/p>\n

The equipment\u00a0would be parked at Burnside Contractors’ yard on Trices Rd in Halswell .<\/p>\n

Wall expected buyers\u00a0from Asia, Dubai, North Africa and Western Australia, but also the\u00a0West Coast, where there had been a “renaissance” in demand for\u00a0alluvial gold.<\/p>\n

Hassalls previously\u00a0sold vehicles for\u00a0Solid Energy after it bought the Pike River coal mine, at Oceana Gold’s Macraes\u00a0mine in Otago and at a Huntly coal mine in\u00a0Waikato.<\/p>\n
