{"id":591,"date":"2016-04-15T13:50:30","date_gmt":"2016-04-15T13:50:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/minutes.machine.market\/?p=591"},"modified":"2016-04-15T13:50:30","modified_gmt":"2016-04-15T13:50:30","slug":"591-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/machine.market\/blog\/591-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Worker injured in Chicago Area Power Line Accident"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A ComEd contractor was seriously injured and thousands were left without power after a chain-reaction construction accident in the western suburbs.<\/p>\n<p>Forest Park police said workers were using a crane to lift a metal utility pole onto its base near 16th and Circle Ave. in Forest Park when the accident took place Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Officials said the worker was knocked from a cherry picker after the tower fell from the crane and struck live power lines. The power lines then struck a cherry picker, knocking the worker to the ground and causing two poles to snap.<\/p>\n<p><script src=\"http:\/\/www.nbcchicago.com\/portableplayer\/?cmsID=375764551&amp;videoID=Vy6_H9waBqZI&amp;origin=nbcchicago.com&amp;sec=news&amp;subsec=local&amp;width=600&amp;height=360\" type=\"text\/javascript\" charset=\"UTF-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Witnesses told police the cherry picker was extended at least 30 feet off the ground at the time of the accident.<\/p>\n<p>The worker was rushed to a Loyola University Medical Center. Information on the worker&#8217;s condition was not immediately available.<\/p>\n<p>ComEd said at one point, more than 2,000 customers were without power in the area.
