Enercon<\/a>‘s 1600-ton Terex CC 9800 crawler crane is ready to set a wind turbine in these videos.<\/p>\n

The Demag<\/a> CC 9800 was designed with multiple configurations in mind based on feedback we have received directly from customers based on their needs,\u201d says R\u00fcdiger Zollondz, senior product marketing manager, Terex Cranes. \u201cThe worldwide demand for heavy lift machines remains strong and Terex is responding.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 209 Two Terex Demag CC 9800s sold to two buyers for use in the wind turbine industry. This first model was delivered to Sarens<\/a> in Belgium and the second to Enercon.<\/p>\n

The model is an adaptation of the original Demag CC 8800-1<\/a> and it uses the same basic components as its bigger brother the 3,200 tonne capacity Terex Demag CC 8800-1 Twin.<\/p>\n

The unit untilizes a wider boom, with components up to four metres, which Terex says makes it stronger. This provides a higher maximum load moment rating of 27,000 tonne\/metres, when configured with 800 tonnes of Superlift counterweight at a 30 metre radius.<\/p>\n

Maximum boom and jib length for the CC 9800<\/a> are 156 metres and 120 metres respectively. The maximum combination is 108 metres plus 120 metres, resulting in a maximum hook height of 230 metres.<\/p>\n

The machine is suitable for a wide range of applications, including petrochemical, large infrastructure and power plants. A configuration is also available for the erection of wind turbines of more than 6 MW capacity,incorporating a 132 metre main boom, plus an 18 metre extension, allowing the crane to lift 375 tonnes to a hook height of 147 metres.<\/p>\n

According to Terex Demag, all three of its large crawler cranes – the CC 8800-1, CC 8800-1 Twin & CC 9800 – target the petrochemical, large infrastructure and power sectors. However the Demag CC 9800 was specifically built for the petrochemical and power sectors.<\/p>\n

The cranes also features two drive lines so that if one fails the other takes over. It is also much more efficient when used one drive line at a time.<\/p>\n
