{"id":5618,"date":"2016-08-10T18:49:48","date_gmt":"2016-08-10T18:49:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/minutes.machine.market\/?p=5618"},"modified":"2016-08-10T18:49:48","modified_gmt":"2016-08-10T18:49:48","slug":"baldwins-crane-hire-loses-its-vehicle-licence-in-the-uk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/machine.market\/blog\/baldwins-crane-hire-loses-its-vehicle-licence-in-the-uk\/","title":{"rendered":"Baldwins Crane Hire loses its vehicle licence in the UK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The UK Traffic Commissioner has revoked vehicle licences for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.baldwinscranehire.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Baldwins Crane Hire<\/a> and disqualified four of its directors after drivers were caught falsifying records.<\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>According to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/2016\/08\/08\/baldwins-crane-hire-loses-its-vehicle-license\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Construction Enquirer<\/a>, an investigation into the company found drivers faking rest breaks in order to ensure cranes would be on site ready to work on time.<\/p>\n<p>Traffic Commissioner Kevin Rooney said: \u201cThe falsification of records to make it appear that drivers had taken appropriate rest goes absolutely to the heart of road safety.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the case of this operator, five out of seven drivers investigated in 2014 were found to be so offending.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA follow-up investigation in 2015 found the offending, if anything had worsened with eighteen drivers found to be offending.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In December 2015 Baldwins Crane Hire was found guilty of corporate manslaughter and fined \u00a3700,000 following the death of a driver in a crash in East Lancashire.<\/p>\n<p>Rooney added:\u201dI do not know if my decision will mean the end of Baldwins Crane Hire limited, but I make my judgement on proportionality on the assumption that it will.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe failures at Baldwins Crane Hire are so significant so deep-rooted and inspired by the very top of the business that I find it entirely appropriate that this licence be revoked.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The revocation of the company\u2019s two licences will take effect from September 10.<\/p>\n<p>The orders for disqualification of Richard Baldwin, Wayne Baldwin, Andrew Skelton and Lorraine Baldwin will take effect on the same date.<\/p>\n<p>By Grant Prior<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<footer class=\"entry-meta\">\n<div class=\"author-info\"><\/div>\n<\/footer>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The UK Traffic Commissioner has revoked vehicle licences for Baldwins Crane Hire and disqualified four of its directors after drivers were caught falsifying records.
