Authorities said three drivers were hurt when they swerved to avoid the crane after it came crashing down. Gov. Andrew Cuomo is also en route and is expected to hold a news conference Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>All traffic on the bridge was closed following the incident and the New York State Department of Transportation is urging drivers to avoid the area.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5100\" src=\"https:\/\/cranemarket.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/tappen-zee-collapse-1.jpg\" alt=\"tappen-zee-collapse-1\" width=\"709\" height=\"532\" srcset=\"https:\/\/machine.market\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/tappen-zee-collapse-1.jpg 709w, https:\/\/machine.market\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/tappen-zee-collapse-1-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/machine.market\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/tappen-zee-collapse-1-510x382.jpg 510w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 100vw, 709px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The DOT said northbound traffic was being detoured at exit 8 in White Plains while southbound traffic was being rerouted at exit 12 in <span class=\"vm-hook-outer vm-hook-default\"><span class=\"vm-hook\">West<\/span><\/span>Nyack.<\/p>\n<p>Day said the integrity of the bridge is being evaluated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to be confident that the bridge structure is still in place and the corp of engineers has been notified to respond as rapidly as possible to ascertain the condition,\u201d Day told WCBS 880.<\/p>\n<p>Construction on the new Tappan Zee Bridge has been underway for three years. The $3.9 billion project, which is being built alongside the old span, is expected to be completed by 2018.<\/p>\n<p>In March, <a href=\"http:\/\/newyork.cbslocal.com\/2016\/04\/05\/tugboat-sinking-video\/\">three crew members were killed<\/a> when their 90-foot tugboat sank after it hit a construction barge near the bridge
