{"id":5091,"date":"2016-07-19T16:53:37","date_gmt":"2016-07-19T16:53:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/minutes.machine.market\/?p=5091"},"modified":"2016-07-19T16:53:37","modified_gmt":"2016-07-19T16:53:37","slug":"zoomlion-first-half-loss-to-more-than-double-on-weak-construction-machinery-sales","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/machine.market\/blog\/zoomlion-first-half-loss-to-more-than-double-on-weak-construction-machinery-sales\/","title":{"rendered":"Zoomlion first-half loss to more than double on weak construction machinery sales"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>China&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/en.zoomlion.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Zoomlion <\/a>Heavy Industry Science and Technology Co Ltd \u00a0warned its first-half net loss would more than double due to weak demand for construction machinery and unfavorable currency rates, pushing its shares lower on Friday.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/news\/picture\/zoomlion-first-half-loss-to-more-than-do?articleId=USKCN0ZV03D&amp;slideId=1145487570\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Reuters<\/a> reports, Chinese heavy equipment makers are battling a historic glut of unsold equipment following a massive construction boom initiated by a $644 billion government stimulus package announced in 2008.<\/p>\n<p>Zoomlion estimated its net loss for January-June at 800 million yuan to 870 million yuan (($120 million &#8211; $130 million), compared with a 309.8 million yuan loss in the same period last year.<\/p>\n<p>The loss per share was estimated at 0.10-0.11 yuan compared with a 0.04 yuan loss a year ago.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Despite the year-on-year increase in property investment and in areas (where) construction newly commenced in China, there is no significant improvement in the market demand in construction machinery,&#8221; Chairman Zhan Chunxin said in a statement.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The company&#8217;s Hong Kong listed-shares fell around 3 percent in early trade, compared with a flat benchmark Hang Seng Index. They have slid nearly 13 percent so far this year after plunging 51 percent last year.<\/p>\n<p>Zoomlion\u00a0said, however, operating cash flow improved from a year ago.<\/p>\n<p>In May, the company dropped its <a href=\"http:\/\/minutes.machine.market\/index.php\/2016\/05\/27\/chinas-zoomlion-abandons-pursuit-of-u-s-crane-maker-tere\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">$3.4 billion bid<\/a> for U.S. crane maker <a href=\"http:\/\/www.terex.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Terex Corp<\/a> after failing to agree on terms, clearing the way for a <a href=\"http:\/\/minutes.machine.market\/index.php\/2016\/05\/16\/terex-to-sell-port-business-to-konecranes-for-1-3-billion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">smaller deal<\/a> between Terex and Finland&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.konecranes.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Konecranes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>(Reporting by Donny Kwok; Editing by Stephen Coates and Edwina Gibbs)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>China&#8217;s Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science and Technology Co Ltd \u00a0warned its first-half net loss would more than double due to weak demand for construction machinery and unfavorable currency rates, pushing its shares lower on Friday.
