Several crane manufacturer groups argued successfully that proper inspections and maintenance are the true factors in the safety and lifespan of a crane, not age. As a result, the Ordinance \u2013 as passed by City Council \u2013 contained no provision regarding crane age.<\/p>\n<p>Insurance limits in the Ordinance were also modified to better reflect industry norms. Under the passed Ordinance, crane operators must be certified and people who work around them must undergo safety training.
