Fluor Corporation<\/a>\u00a0announced that it has achieved substantial completion for Dominion Virginia Power\u2019s Brunswick County (Va.) Power Station.<\/a><\/p>\n

Fluor provided engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning services for the 1,358-megawatt natural gas-fueled power station in Brunswick County, Virginia. Fluor completed the project with a construction staff totaling more than 1,500 workers during the peak of construction activity.<\/p>\n

The completed power station will produce enough electricity to power 325,000 homes and began producing electricity for its customers in April.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe completion of the Brunswick County facility is a prime example of Fluor\u2019s service excellence we provide to our clients,\u201d said Chris Tye<\/a>, president of Fluor\u2019s Power business.<\/p>\n

Building upon our long and proven track record with Dominion, Fluor again delivered an asset that supports their pursuit to provide customers with clean and reliable energy.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Fluor is also scheduled to begin construction on Dominion\u2019s new Greensville County Power Station<\/a> later this year, a 1,600-megawatt combined-cycle, natural gas-fired power station in Greensville County, located seven miles from the Brunswick County Power Station.<\/p>\n

The power station will use an air cooled condenser system to convert the steam used to produce electricity back into water which will then be reused to create additional steam. The air cooled system will save more than 8 million gallons of water a day as compared to a more traditional water cooled system.
