{"id":3425,"date":"2016-05-25T13:11:13","date_gmt":"2016-05-25T13:11:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/minutes.machine.market\/?p=3425"},"modified":"2016-05-25T13:11:13","modified_gmt":"2016-05-25T13:11:13","slug":"ale-complete-malikai-project-with-27500t-load-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/machine.market\/blog\/ale-complete-malikai-project-with-27500t-load-out\/","title":{"rendered":"ALE Heavy Lift completes Malikai Tension Leg Platform project with 27,500ton load-out"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ale-heavylift.com\/news\/ale-complete-malikai-project-with-27500t-load-out-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ALE Heavy Lift<\/a> has loaded-out the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shell.com\/about-us\/major-projects\/malikai.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Malikai Tension Leg Platform<\/a> (TLP), weighing 27,500t, at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mhb.com.my\/EN\/page\/mmhe-atb\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering (MMHE) West in Johor Darul Takzim, Malaysia.<\/a> The actual skidding was completed in just 12 hours and it marks another major milestone for Malikai Project.<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"http:\/\/www.ale-heavylift.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/load-out-light-and-night-21.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This load-out was part of the contracted scope of work for the Malikai Project, which was awarded on behalf of TMJV. In July 2015, ALE was responsible for Superlift activities which include weighing the Topside, jacking it up 40m using ALE\u2019s Mega Jack system and skidding it 90m at elevation before mating the Topside with the Hull. Currently, it stands as the world\u2019s highest ever jack-up and skidding operations on this scale.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"http:\/\/www.ale-heavylift.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/loadout-111.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/> Subsequently in March 2016, ALE skidded the TLP 75m onto the \u2018White Marlin\u2019 vessel using eight strand jacks, with 900t capacity each. Each strand jack was fitted with 39 strand wires, giving a total pulling capacity of 5,928t. As well as the skidding operation for the load-out, ALE operated their barge level monitoring system.<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"http:\/\/www.ale-heavylift.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/loadout-31.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/>ALE \u2013 Offshore Services\u2019 Engineering Manager Barney Mills, who coordinated the load-out operation, commented: \u201cThis was a challenging operation as the loadout was undertaken with the vessel in a side-on position. This meant that the control and monitoring of the vessel stability during the load transfer was crucial. Quay jacks were used to ensure the vessel heel remain positive by way of monitoring calculated load on the quay. We also utilised our barge level monitoring system to constantly monitor the vessel trim, heal and deck shape in real time throughout the load-out.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe are really proud to be involved in such a landmark and industry-leading project such as this. Our clients have praised us for our smooth execution and professionalism shown throughout the project. As the project completes, I want to thank all of the teams for their hard work in achieving this milestone together.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The White Marlin has since taken the TLP to an area off the coast of Singapore, where the float-off operation was completed, the TLP towed back and moored against the quay for final testing and commissioning.
