The historic John Anson Ford Theatres, a 1,200-seat open-air amphitheater originally built in 1920, is tucked into steep canyon walls in the Cahuenga Pass. A program of the LA County Arts Commission, the theatre is nestled in natural surroundings on county parklands, delivering performances from a diverse group of LA County artists.<\/p>\n<p>Scope of work includes extensive demolition, design-build shoring, fire suppression, and sound. There are new retaining walls, site drainage, below-stage expansion and build-out, theatrical audio\/visual, and lighting, MEP systems and historic restoration.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UvcqsyqfdMQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/fordtheatres.wordpress.com\/2015\/06\/23\/ford-construction-update-2-a-photo-tour\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Oxana Ermolova<\/a> reports <\/strong>on the\u00a0Ford construction with Production Manager Arthur Trowbridge! Grab your hardhat, here we go!<\/em><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_625\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" data-shortcode=\"caption\"><img class=\"wp-image-625 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/fordtheatres.files.wordpress.com\/2015\/06\/2015-04-15-at-11-14-57.jpg?w=764\" alt=\"Arthur has made a career getting to know every nook and cranny of the historical amphitheatre and providing technical expertise to the countless artists that have played on its stage. \" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Arthur proudly points out \u201cthe hole\u201d where the Ford stage once stood. For him, the project has a very personal dimension: He\u2019s spent countless hours getting to know every nook and cranny of this place, not to mention providing technical expertise to hundreds of artists. \u201cI practically raised my son in these production offices,\u201d he says.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_617\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" data-shortcode=\"caption\"><img class=\"wp-image-617 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/fordtheatres.files.wordpress.com\/2015\/06\/2015-04-15-at-11-15-21.jpg?w=764\" alt=\"2015-04-15 at 11-15-21\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Construction workers burrow into the bedrock under the stage. According to Arthur, the number one item found during the excavation process is beer bottles.
