{"id":1915,"date":"2016-05-02T15:28:05","date_gmt":"2016-05-02T15:28:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/minutes.machine.market\/?p=1915"},"modified":"2016-05-02T15:28:05","modified_gmt":"2016-05-02T15:28:05","slug":"1915-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/machine.market\/blog\/1915-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Huge Ship carrying ship-to-shore \u2018megamax\u2019 cranes are being supplied to Peel Ports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pictures show a giant ship carrying five super-size cranes arriving in the Port of Liverpool after a six-week voyage across the world.<\/p>\n<p>The 760ft-long <a href=\"http:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/liverpool-news\/recap-zhen-hua-transporter-brings-10372778\" data-content-type=\"live-event\">Zhen Hua<\/a> ship set off from a dock in Nantong, China, in mid-March and was seen off the coast of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/crosby\" data-action=\"crosby\" data-content-type=\"section-topic\" data-track=\"false\" data-type=\"inline\" data-word-count=\"1\">Crosby<\/a> today.<\/p>\n<p>The ship was carrying six cranes that will be used on the \u00a3300m Liverpool2 deep-water container terminal construction project.<\/p>\n<p>The scheme, being led by Peel Ports, aims to deepen the Mersey estuary so it can accommodate some of the biggest boats in the world.<\/p>\n<p>Another Zhen Hua ship \u2013 so-called because they are named after the Chinese crane manufacturer \u2013 previously visited in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/liverpool\" data-action=\"liverpool\" data-content-type=\"section-topic\" data-track=\"false\" data-type=\"inline\" data-word-count=\"1\">Liverpool<\/a> in November last year to deliver the first five cranes for use in the Liverpool2 project. Jonathan Miller, who took these photographs in Crosby, said: \u201cIt was an impressive sight as it sailed in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His images show the Iron Men statues along Crosby beach and the offshore wind turbines.<\/p>\n<p>A total of eight ship-to-shore \u2018megamax\u2019 cranes and 22 cantilever rail-mounted gantry cranes are being supplied to Peel Ports as part of Liverpool2.<\/p>\n<p>Each crane measures 92m high to the top of the frame, approximately the same as Liverpool\u2019s Royal Liver Building, and 132m high when the boom is raised.<\/p>\n<p>Each crane weighs around 1,600 tonnes.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"byline-bar\" data-widget=\"tm.omniture.omniLinkTracking\" data-context=\"tools-bar-\" data-friendly-name=\"Tools Bar Link Clicks\" data-max-times-to-track-links=\"5\">\n<li class=\"author\"><span class=\"section-label\">BY<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/authors\/joshua-taylor\/\" rel=\"author\" data-type=\"hdln-auth\" data-action=\"author:Joshua Taylor\">JOSHUA TAYLOR<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/players.brightcove.net\/4221396001\/6f5e7bee-4b67-41d5-ae5e-744be2490b77_default\/index.html?videoId=4604266484001\" width=\"300\" height=\"150\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pictures show a giant ship carrying five super-size cranes arriving in the Port of Liverpool after a six-week voyage across the world.
