Cat G3512<\/a> (pictured) is rated for\u00a0standby power\u00a0at 750 kW or 1000 kW at 60 Hz and the company said it is aimed at the North American\u00a0market.<\/p>\nCaterpillar said that the genset is \u2018ideal for emergency, legally-required or optional standby systems\u00a0such as office buildings, data centres, retail complexes, schools, government buildings, universities and research facilities\u2019.<\/p>\n
It added that with an updated package design, the\u00a0G3512\u00a0is modelled after the standby diesel solution to minimize installation costs and commissioning time on-site.<\/p>\n
The engine is built on established 3500 technology and features a design with steel pistons and a protection monitoring system.<\/p>\n
Featuring Caterpillar\u2019s new EMCP 4.3 generator set controller, the G3512 easily integrates with building management systems. The expanded set of features also includes complete SR5 generators, gas train, package-mounted radiators and simplified wiring connections.<\/p>\n
Mike Yohe, product manager at Caterpillar Energy Solutions, said the genset \u2018checks all the boxes for the standby market segment\u2019.<\/p>\n
