The new 50-tonne compact crane operated by Gummersbach-based crane contractor Ley had to work in a very little space.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"bold\">\n<li>Liebherr LTC 1050-3.1 compact crane installs gantry crane at a height of ten meters<\/li>\n<li><em>Limited space for supporting the crane made adequate thanks to VarioBase\u00ae<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Heavy duty jib allows installation just under the hall roof<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The production hall of a company which manufactures models and moulds based in Biedenkopf in the State of Hesse presented the three-axle compact crane with some major challenges. Little space to extend the supports and hardly enough height for hoisting work made the job a very tricky one. Nevertheless, the crane assembly was possible between the fixed workstations as a result of the VarioBase\u00ae variable supporting system. A support strut on the opposite side to the load could only be extended to 39 percent.<\/p>\n<p><strong>High lifting capacity in minimum space<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The main gantry, which also had a railing, had to be placed on the crane track just under the roof of the assembly building at a height of around ten meters. It was only possible to work in these conditions using the heavy-duty jib lowered to 60 percent and the hook traverse. In this configuration, the hook was just under the crane height and the compact crane had to operate with very little space above it.<\/p>\n<p>The LTC 1050-3.1 driver had to ensure extremely accurate maneuvering and use a great deal of concentration for slewing and positioning the crane gantry. Yves Choms\u00e9 elevated his cabin several meters in the air to get closer to the action. &#8220;It&#8217;s also a great idea for installing and removing the trolley.
