Over the last six decades, the Manchester, Connecticut-based company has been an integral part of Manitowoc\u2019s expansion into the northeastern United States, as well as the Atlantic provinces of Canada. Shawmut offers a full range of Manitowoc, Grove, Potain and National Crane-branded cranes, in addition to a variety of utility equipment.<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1957 by George O\u2019Connell, Shawmut Equipment remains a family business to this day. The company became one of Grove\u2019s first distributors in 1963, and in 1995 it was made the exclusive dealer for Manitowoc\u2019s crawler crane line in New England. Shawmut expanded its operations to Canada 10 years ago when it opened the doors of its facilities in New Brunswick.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur business philosophy is to do the right thing for the customer in each and every aspect of the business,\u201d said David O\u2019Connell, president of Shawmut. \u201cThis is the only way to succeed. We have repeat customers who have done business with us for generations, as well as new customers who are doing business with us for the first time.
