In order to place 329 precast concrete posts and 660 concrete sound barrier panels, The Great Lakes Construction Co. rented a Link-Belt 75-ton (70-mt) <a href=\"https:\/\/machine.market\/search\/link-belt\/tcc-750\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">TCC-750<\/a> telescopic crawler crane from <a href=\"https:\/\/machine.market\/columbus-equipment-company\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Columbus Equipment Company<\/a> of Columbus, Ohio.<\/p>\n<p>The sound barrier project is one of twelve different Ohio Department of Transportation projects for Cuyahoga County mandated to have minimal impact on traffic.\u00a0 The TCC-750\u2019s agility off the shoulder of the road (size and mobility) allowed construction to proceed without significantly impeding traffic. \u201cThe crane\u2019s footprint kept construction work out of traffic and the interstate lanes open,\u201d says John Schrieber, project superintendent for The Great Lakes Construction Co.<\/p>\n<p>A rig drilled holes for the foundation of the 329 posts. Then the TCC-750 lifted into place rebar cages and anchor bolts before pouring concrete for the foundations. The foundations were anywhere from 8 \u2013 15 ft. (2.4 \u2013 4.5 m) deep and 30 in. (76 cm) in diameter. Once the foundations were built, the TCC-750 lifted precast concrete posts weighing up to 1,500 lbs. (680 kg) from I-480 roadside to their final position 25 ft. (7.6 m) above grade.<\/p>\n<p>Once the posts were placed, the TCC-750 slid into place 660 14,000 lb. (6 350 kg) concrete sound barrier panels. For 1,600 ft. (487 m) of drainage, the TCC-750 dropped #8 stone with a concrete bucket to backfill behind the wall.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has been a great machine for us. It handles our panels very well, and we are impressed by it.
