{"id":11918,"date":"2017-09-07T02:36:30","date_gmt":"2017-09-07T02:36:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/minutes.machine.market\/?p=11918"},"modified":"2017-09-07T02:36:30","modified_gmt":"2017-09-07T02:36:30","slug":"oha-decides-to-extend-crane-certification-deadline-for-both-operators-and-employers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/machine.market\/blog\/oha-decides-to-extend-crane-certification-deadline-for-both-operators-and-employers\/","title":{"rendered":"OSHA decides to extend crane certification deadline for both operators and employers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) today issued a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gpo.gov\/fdsys\/pkg\/FR-2017-08-30\/pdf\/2017-18441.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Notice of Proposed Rulemaking<\/a>\u00a0to extend the employer&#8217;s responsibility to ensure crane operator competency and enforcement for crane operator certification to Nov. 10, 2018.<\/p>\n<p>OSHA issued a final rule in September 2014, extending the deadline by three years for crane operator certification requirements in the Cranes and Derricks in Construction standard.<\/p>\n<p>The final rule also extended by three years, to November 10, 2017, the employer&#8217;s responsibility to ensure that crane operators are competent to operate a crane safely.<\/p>\n<p>The agency is now proposing an extension of the enforcement date to address stakeholder concerns over the operator certification requirements in the Cranes and Derricks in Construction standard.<\/p>\n<p>Comments may submitted electronically at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.regulations.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/www.regulations.gov<\/a>, the Federal e-Rulemaking Portal or by facsimile or mail. See the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gpo.gov\/fdsys\/pkg\/FR-2017-08-30\/pdf\/2017-18441.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Federal Register notice<\/a>\u00a0for submission details and additional information about this proposed rule.
