{"id":11678,"date":"2017-07-25T13:31:13","date_gmt":"2017-07-25T13:31:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/minutes.machine.market\/?p=11678"},"modified":"2017-07-25T13:31:13","modified_gmt":"2017-07-25T13:31:13","slug":"port-of-felixstowe-in-the-uk-orders-two-new-ship-to-shore-cranes-from-zpmc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/machine.market\/blog\/port-of-felixstowe-in-the-uk-orders-two-new-ship-to-shore-cranes-from-zpmc\/","title":{"rendered":"Port of Felixstowe in the UK orders two new Ship to Shore cranes from ZPMC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>UK&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.portoffelixstowe.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Port of Felixstowe<\/a>, a member of Hutchison Ports, has placed an order with China-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zpmc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ZPMC<\/a> to purchase two new Ship to Shore gantry cranes, which will be used at the port&#8217;s Berths 8 and 9.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11679 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cranemarket.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Port-of-felixstowe.png\" alt=\"Port of felixstowe\" width=\"192\" height=\"46\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The delivery of the newly ordered equipment is currently scheduled for February next year, and\u00a0will bring the number of cranes situated at the port to 12.<\/p>\n<p>The cranes will feature a 59.5m outreach from the quay in order to handle future generations vessels, with containers stowed up to 24-wide across the deck.<\/p>\n<p>ZPMC\u2019s Dutch subsidiary has also started a separate initiative to raise ten of the existing cranes at Felixstowe port&#8217;s\u00a0Trinity Terminal.<\/p>\n<p>The work will help increase the crane\u2019s operating height by 46.5m, and is expected to be completed by December 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The increase in\u00a0height will enable the cranes to handle vessels with containers stowed up to 11-high on deck\u00a0without restriction and\u00a0under all tidal conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Hutchison Ports executive director Clemence Cheng said: \u201cThe Port of Felixstowe has facilities to handle vessels of all sizes.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt is the clear\u00a0port of choice for the largest megaships, and we had 137 calls by vessels of over 18,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) last year.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cIncreasing the total number of cranes on the port and increasing the height of ten cranes on Trinity Terminal will give us greater flexibility to accommodate the largest categories of ship size.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In total, we will have 22 cranes capable of handling the largest container vessels in service.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trinity Terminal currently features a stack capacity of 96,000TEU\u00a0and is equipped with\u00a023 ship-to-shore gantry cranes, including 16 ultra post-Panamax, nine post-Panamax and one Panamax.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UK&#8217;s Port of Felixstowe, a member of Hutchison Ports, has placed an order with China-based ZPMC to purchase two new Ship to Shore gantry cranes, which will be used at the port&#8217;s Berths 8 and 9.
