The safe lift, transport, and placement of a bridge structure took place at the end of May 2017 in Edmonton for Supreme Group. The structure weighs 385mt and measures 57.25m long and 11.4m wide with a height of 4.3m.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h2>FIRST ACCELERATED BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION IN WESTERN CANADA<\/h2>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The ABC approach, or Accelerated Bridge Construction method, was used. This allowed for the structure to be assembled away from the bridge foundations and in a controlled, but small, construction area. ABC is safer and more efficient than conventional bridge construction: it removes hazards associated with working near traffic and eliminates the need for working at heights. It minimizes congestion and traffic delays that would be associated with traditional construction methods.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11583\" src=\"https:\/\/cranemarket.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/mammoet-bridge-construction-2.jpg\" alt=\"mammoet-bridge-construction-2\" width=\"1160\" height=\"628\" srcset=\"https:\/\/machine.market\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/mammoet-bridge-construction-2.jpg 1160w, https:\/\/machine.market\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/mammoet-bridge-construction-2-300x162.jpg 300w, https:\/\/machine.market\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/mammoet-bridge-construction-2-768x416.jpg 768w, https:\/\/machine.market\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/mammoet-bridge-construction-2-1024x554.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/machine.market\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/mammoet-bridge-construction-2-1080x585.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1160px) 100vw, 1160px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Three cranes navigated the small construction site to lift the bridge structure and set it on 24 lines of Self Propelled Modular Transporter (SPMT) for transport and placement. A short execution window between 10 pm and 9 am was given, during which the road was closed to allow for safe passage of the SPMT. A smooth, swift operation moved the bridge structure into place and set it on its abutments within the allotted time.
