{"id":10826,"date":"2017-03-29T05:02:07","date_gmt":"2017-03-29T05:02:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/minutes.machine.market\/?p=10826"},"modified":"2017-03-29T05:02:07","modified_gmt":"2017-03-29T05:02:07","slug":"komatsu-uk-hosted-the-annual-technology-olympics-contest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/machine.market\/blog\/komatsu-uk-hosted-the-annual-technology-olympics-contest\/","title":{"rendered":"Komatsu UK hosted the annual Technology Olympics contest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WORKERS from excavator manufacturer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.komatsu.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Komatsu<\/a> have pitted their wits against peers from across Europe in a company skills competition.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.komatsu.eu\/en\/company\/komatsu-uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Komatsu UK<\/a> hosted the annual Technology Olympics contest, which allowed its brightest talents to prove their mettle against rivals from the supply chain and sister companies.<\/p>\n<p>The event, held at the business\u2019 plant in Birtley, saw 115 people compete for the honor of representing Komatsu UK at finals in Japan later this year.<\/p>\n<div id=\"oldsubscontnt\">\n<p>According to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thenorthernecho.co.uk\/business\/15180897.Komatsu_s_Birtley_workers_dig_in_to_impress_in_Olympic_contest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Northern Echo<\/a>, competitors took part in a number of tasks across fabrication, painting, welding and inspection.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s winners included Kris Malloy, for welding, and painter Steve Chapman.<\/p>\n<p>Owen Outterside was championed for his work on assembly, with Ethan Kelly singled out for praise for his machine inspection skills.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Malloy, Mr Chapman and Mr Outterside have all won previously, but it was the first time Mr Kelly has been recognised in such a way.<\/p>\n<p>David Kilkenny, fabrication, CNC and maintenance manager, said: \u201cThe Olympics puts focus on our commitment to giving the best training possible to our workforce.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"author-name primary-color loud\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thenorthernecho.co.uk\/author\/profile\/40120.Steven_Hugill\/\">Steven Hugill<\/a>, Business Editor \/ <a class=\"twitter-button\" href=\"http:\/\/www.twitter.com\/shugillecho\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> shugillecho<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WORKERS from excavator manufacturer Komatsu have pitted their wits against peers from across Europe in a company skills competition.
