The collapse was reported about 11:45 a.m., he said.<\/p>\n<p>Star Fire District Capt. Ryan Hood said Sunday the man was unresponsive when first responders pulled him from the 8-foot trench.<\/p>\n<p>First responders with the Star Fire District on Saturday rescued an unresponsive man from a construction trench after it partially collapsed, according to SFD Captain Ryan Hood.<\/p>\n<p>Hood said firefighters did not see a trench box, a device meant to brace the walls of deep trenches to ensure workers\u2019 safety.<\/p>\n<p>Information was not immediately available on the name of the company installing the drain pipe or whether the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.idahostatesman.com\/news\/local\/community\/canyon-county\/article139670863.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Idaho Statesman<\/a> reports,\u00a0<a title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.idahostatesman.com\/news\/local\/community\/boise\/article105865477.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Last May, two people died and a third was injured after a 9-foot-deep trench collapsed <\/a>near the Boise corner of North Hill Road Parkway and Gary Lane.<u> <\/u>A foreman on the site of the May accident said workers had removed a trench box shortly before the collapse.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"ng_byline_name\">BY KRISTIN RODINE\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"ng_byline_email\"><a title=\"\" href=\"mailto:krodine@idahostatesman.com\">krodine@idahostatesman.com<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Harold Foote, 58, was working to put in a drain pipe on Franklin Road near Joplin Road when dirt collapsed on him, burying him up to his mid-chest, Canyon County Sheriff\u2019s Chief Deputy Marv Dashiell said Monday.
