Tim’s Cranes & Rigging<\/a>, based out of Savannah Ga., arrived Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, to help remove several boats that were tossed into the marsh by Hurricane Matthew after the category two hurricane came through the Lowcountry in October.<\/p>\n

Matthew Leitner, who lived on his boat before the hurricane and camped about a month at the marina site after his boat was beached, greeted each person who arrived Thursday morning as Tim’s Crane Service worked to set up a 260-ton crane All Terrain Crane.<\/p>\n

“I am very excited,” he said. “I am just hoping this all goes safely without any damage to the boats.”<\/p>\n

Big \u2019Um Decks N\u2019 Docks is paying for the crane, Catron said, noting it will cost about $4,000 a day to remove the boats.<\/p>\n

Hilton Head mayor David Bennett came out Thursday morning to observe the crane, and meet with boat owners and works crews.<\/p>\n
