Based in Iowa they recently used a lattice boom truck crane and telescopic boom truck crane to lift, tilt and set the tanks on special trailers. Townsend Crane Service has hydraulic truck cranes from 30 to 115 tons, carry deck cranes to 10 tons, tractor trailers, detachable lowboys to 60 tons, certified rigging and spreader bars.
They were landmarks. The two gleaming 60,000 gallon stainless steel tanks at the former Kalona Cheese Factory greeted motorists traveling down Highway 1 to Kalona. They were steely grey on a cloud day, sparkled like a mirror under a blue sky and turned a rosy hue to reflect a setting sun. But they will now be welcoming signposts at a creamery in Fredericksburg.
