Gräfelfing, Germany-based Schmidbauer GmbH & Co. KG crane service provider’s fleet has expanded thanks to the recent acquisition of a Terex 650-ton CC 3800-1 crawler crane.
“Terex cranes are tremendously innovative in terms of technology and engineering, and as far as we’re concerned, they’re always raising the bar before anyone else when it comes to crawler cranes. The Superlift 3800 is no exception,” says Large Cranes Technical Manager Stefan Schmidbauer when explaining why his company decided on the model.
The 650-ton crawler includes a Flex Flex Frame, Split Tray, and Boom Booster extra equipment ordered by Schmidbauer: Not only is the radius of the suspended counterweight continuously adjustable thanks to the Flex Frame, but the counterweight can also be easily split with the use of the Split Tray option.
“This significantly reduces the time and effort involved in rearranging counterweights during setup and disassembly, as well as during operation. On top of this, the Boom Booster increases the crane’s already large lifting capacity by up to 30 percent,” Schmidbauer explains as he lists the unit’s key advantages.
With increasingly demanding lifting heights and loads of the future, the company is poised to ready to take on even more complex projects.
“For us, the Superlift 3800 is a safe investment in our future, especially as it still has a lot of technical expansion potential,” Stefan Schmidbauer points out.
Schmidbauer is planning to use the Superlift 3800 primarily for erecting wind turbines. However, there are also requests for heavy cargo transloading and plant building projects already, meaning that the new crane is almost guaranteed constantly be in use.
