The latest in safety measures have come a long way to help protect construction workers, despite few technological advances to bolster construction site safety itself.
Damages from fire, mold, water, and other environmental hazards all can cost construction and insurance companies millions of dollars.
New York-based startup, Pillar Technologies has found an answer: smart sensors specifically design with construction site safety in mind. Pillar’s backend system for these sensors also functions as a risk management tool and collects real-time data, alerts, and long-term analysis from hundreds of sensors across construction sites.
Using Pillar’s Sensors
Each of these sensors is mounted every 2,000 square feet of the construction site. With a monthly analytics subscription and these smart sensors—which are smaller than a shoebox—Pillar has the ability to track any shifts in environmental conditions and oncoming danger for construction workers. Changes in temperature, humidity, dust particulates, pressure, noise vibration, and volatile organic compounds have all been elements taken into consideration.
Pillar’s Tech Accolades
Not only was Pillar Technologies announced as a winner of the Global Change the World for Profit competition at the Forbes Under 30 Summit and the company has participated in TechCrunch’s CES Hardware Battlefield 2017.
