A road bridge above a railway line in Greater Manchester reopened this week, after a £4M upgrade by Network Rail. An Ainscough Crane Hire Terex Demag TC 2800-1 lattice boom truck crane was used for setting the bridge beams during the August bank holiday using the 600t crane.

The New Civil Engineer reports, the original Richmond Street bridge was over 100 years old and had reached the end of its design life. As part of Network Rail’s Railway Upgrade Plan, the project, which started in April this year, replaced the structure with a new bridge that is expected to last for 125 years.  The 730t bridge was installed and reopened to pedestrians and motorists on the 14th of November.

“I’m pleased to see the new bridge in place as part of a £4M investment in the borough’s infrastructure,” added Ashton Town Council chair Joyce Bowerman.
